Today was such a special day- we dedicated Rory at our church! Over and over again I find myself just in awe of the fact that God has blessed us so much by choosing us to be Rory’s parents. We are so thankful for His will in our life to raise her and teach her about His wonderful grace!
This day was also very special because Rory was able to wear two things that are so precious to me. My Aunt Brenda made her a dress that “just happened” to fit her beautifully now. I think it was meant to be that she would wear it on her dedication day.
She also wore a ring that is so special to me. My Aunt Nita gave Rory my cousin Patrick’s baby ring. Words cannot describe how much this gift has meant to me. My sweet Patrick passed away 10 years ago and I miss him so much, and even more so now that I have her. Patrick was the most precious guy. Patrick had Down’s Syndrome and one of the reasons I felt called to the church we are in (and the one we joined in Alexandria) is because they have a heart for special needs people. This morning before the service two ladies who have Down’s came up to Rory and told her how cute she was. Rory smiled as big as I’ve ever seen her and was thrilled that they came up to her. It touched my heart and made me glad she’d know people like Patrick. I wish she could meet Patrick and that he could shake his finger at her like he always did to me.
Aunt Brenda and Aunt Nita- You mean so much to our family. Thank you so much for your gifts, they truly touched my heart more than I can say. I am so glad Rory will grow up knowing such wonderful women who will help share stories of her Granddaddy, Grandmother, and Patrick.
