(in true LJW tradition- name that movie)

Last night was a bit traumatic in the Harris house. Andy was rearranging the office and Rory and I were sitting in the computer chair when all of a sudden the DVD shelving thing/case broke in half and tipped over on top of us. I’m still not exactly sure what happened, but I’m pretty sure it hit me first then rolled over onto Rory.

This is the first time she’s ever felt any real pain, so she screamed and cried like we’d never heard her do for about 30 to 45 minutes. I called the pediatrician on call and she said to go ahead and take her into the ER since she was so young and her head is still soft. We knew it hadn’t knocked her out but we definitely wanted to take her in to be safe.

So off we went to the hospital… Rory is obviously really concerned at this point. She just looks a little mad about it.

While at the hospital, Rory was as happy as can be. She smiled and talked and laughed at the nurses and doctor. She just kept batting those sweet eyes at the doctor who was an older man. So sweet.

Everything is fine. It sounds much worse than it ended up being but it was definitely scary since it was our first accident with the little girl. It could have been so much worse and we are just praising God for his protection over our little girl. I’m pretty sure where it hit me is hurting a whole lot worse than what she’s feeling this morning!!!

Showing off my soon-to-be shiner.

I stayed up all night pretty much checking on her every hour like the doctor said just in case and she slept through the whole night and even slept in this morning until 8:30! of course!

So yeah, go ahead hospital, just put in on my tab. ER visit #4 for the year since she’s been born, not to mention the bill for staying in the hospital five days to have her, and the gallbladder surgery. Just put it on my tab. 🙂

  1. Oh how scary! I know how you feel but little ones are so resilient. I’m sure there was a bit of shock and fear for her first trama which made her cry hard. Of course the fear and shock is just as hard for the mom and dad. My heart skips a beat when I think how blessed she is that it wasn’t worse.

  2. I am so glad she is ok! That shiner is going to be a good one 🙂 I hope you aren’t hurting too bad, either.

I love the LJW 🙂 But I don’t know the movie you’re referring to!

  3. The movie is Dan in Real Life.. its kinda a hard one. Steve Carrell’s character gets like three speeding tickets and he just says to the cop “put it on my tab”. 🙂

I love hearing from y'all! Leave a comment below!
