This time last week I was barely able to anything but weep. We were waiting and waiting to hear news about our baby girl who was undergoing open heart surgery. We were burdened, heartbroken, and so sad that our sweet Ryder had already been through so much in her short life.
And we were so, so, blessed by the response to prayer from all of you.
Today, we have been home 3 1/2 days and Ryder is thriving. She is eating 3 ounces in 20 minutes or less (before surgery, we were lucky to get two ounces in her in two hours). She is happy and her color is no longer a blue-ish hue. She doesn’t even have but a slight murmur that some doctors haven’t been able to hear.
Our family is praising God, the ultimate Healer, for blessing us and healing our baby girl. We could not be more thankful.
Oh what a sweet week it has been to be at home! When we got here on Monday, Rory was just so excited. She giggled and ran around and just didn’t know what to do with herself! That night she didn’t go to bed until 10:30 because she didn’t want to be away from me.
Since then, she has clung to me and I can’t even go to the bathroom without her. Poor thing still thinks I’m going to leave again. Hopefully she will realize soon that I always come back.
And let me tell you- I forgot how busy Rory was. Oh my word, she is constantly on the go. She loves to “help” clean… she especially likes to help with the dishes and the laundry.
She wants to go outside as soon as she wakes up until the sun goes down. Thank goodness its a little cooler out so its more enjoyable!
After being gone just 11 days, she had already learned so many new things. She is talking more and saying EVERYTHING you say. (It would be a good idea for me to stop calling her a “little butt”, ha! I say it out of love, of course.) She learned how to swing on her stomach where you run and let go and hold your feet up. And she can sit in the swing like a big girl. Once again I am wondering, where did my baby go?!
See! Helping with the dishes!
One week later, and we are already living a different, happier life without the burden of having a severely sick child. Thank you Jesus!
