Last week was a blur of sickness and appointments and yuck. Just wasn’t the best week we’ve ever had.
We did have a good streak though- a year with no fevers or illnesses. So I definitely feel mighty blessed about that.
Wednesday Ryder had her first dentist appointment. As a heart patient, she had to take antibiotics before and that was BRUTAL. Luckily that was by far the worst part because girlfriend LOVED the dentist. She was such a big girl and didn’t hesitate to let them do whatever they needed to do.
Thursday night I went to dinner with a group of friends. It was so fun and yet bittersweet because my new friend, Vanessa, is moving. We are all so sad to see her go. (In fact, she was supposed to leave today but we woke up to snow so HA YOU CAN’T LEAVE.) After dinner we all went to Walmart and acted on high levels of silly while we were there.
On Friday night we did end up having a good snow and decided WHY NOT and played for a good fifteen minutes in it before bedtime.
Much to our relief we had some snow/ice left on Saturday morning so we find the best sled we could- a pool tube.
It worked like a charm and the girls had the best time sledding/tubing down some the very small hills at our apartment complex. (We live on the side of a hill/mountain/foothill WHAT DO YOU CALL IT? So we have some epic sledding hills that could happen if we got enough snow!)
I knew Rory would love it but wasn’t quite sure about Ryder. SHE LOVED IT. Until she got too cold. But for a good bit of time she had the time of her life.
The most important news is that Andy entered a chili cook off and WON. I’ve never been so proud in all my life.
Please note Andrew’s love of being on camera in the video.
Hope you enjoy! As promised it is a shorter video! 🙂
A little over a week ago, Andy and I got the bright idea to cook 21 frozen meals.
When I say, “Andy and I,” I clearly CLEARLY mean Andy. I would never volunteer to cook 21 meals at once, ever.
That being said, I have so enjoyed not cooking the past week because I already (meaning mostly Andy) cooked dinner! We went by this plan for the 21 Freezer Meals from ALDI and so far we have really liked all of them! So if you can deal with about 4-5 hours of cooking and 6-7 loads of dishes, you will really like this!
I have the pulled pork in the crockpot as we speak and I can’t wait for dinner!
After all the cooking we treated ourselves to an afternoon of fishing. It was too cold and windy and was a fail on the fishing front but we had a wonderful little picnic and a fun time out of the house on a sunny day with the girls.
The only thing caught was a random bobber someone else had left behind. I was the one that caught it. Who knows how. But no one is surprised by the randomness of this situation, now are they?
I have to interject with a marvelous story from my childhood.
I went camping with one of my best childhood friends, Jinny, one weekend. I always loved going camping with her family.
On this particular trip we decided to go fishing off a dock/pier/bridge/wooden structure. I have no clue where everyone else was and why I was alone fishing at this particular moment but I was. All of a sudden I saw a snake and for some STRANGE REASON ONLY TIFFANY WOULD DO I decided to hit the snake with my bait/hook. (Doesn’t this sound like something a little girl named Rory would do?!)
Well I’ll be darn if that snake didn’t freaking LATCH ON FOR DEAR LIFE. I will never forget it jumping at the bait and the panic that ensued. I mean I SCREAMED LIKE I WAS BEING MURDERED, Y’ALL. I realized no one I knew was around me so I started screaming louder, “I CAUGHT A SNAKE! HELP HELP HELP HEEEEEEELLLLLPPPPPPPPP I CAUGHT A SNAKE!”
Then my genius self decided, “you know what?! I bet I could flick this snake off of my line!”
So there I go, swinging that snake all around trying to get it to fly off while screaming, “HEEEELLLLPPPP I CAUGHT A SNAAAAAAAKE I CAUGHT A SNAAAAAKE!”
IT DID NOT WORK, PEOPLE.
I see Jinny and her parents running toward me because I AM SURE they assumed I was dead from all the hollering I was doing. Finally we get the snaked reeled in and this (moron) guy grabs the snake and holds it to his face and declares, “oh its just a water moccasin”…………….
And that is the day I learned to never attempt to scare a snake.
You know, now that I think about it… I think that may have been the last time I was invited to go camping with the Culpeppers. Interesting discovery for myself.
What can I say? I’m a wild card. I shouldn’t be trusted.
The whole week we spent celebrating Rory. On her actual birthday we took donuts to her school and she was so excited about that. I am convinced her love language is donuts. Who could blame her?
After school we went to ChickFilA to play and have ice cream with some friends. The girls had a blast. That night we went to Rory’s choice for dinner which was Hibachi.
Now let me just say that girlfriend knows whats up choosing the most expensive place for her day. The girls loved the “show” they put on cooking.
Saturday was the most perfect day ever staying home in our pjs. LIKE WE DID NOT GET OUT OF OUR PAJAMAS THE ENTIRE DAY.
Ryder has been sickly and ran a little fever on Saturday. It ended up being the best day to just stay in and have a day of rest. Sunday morning she woke up wheezing so I knew I had to take her to the doctor. She went in and said, “now I have something fun planned today so I need to know if I can still go,” hahaha!
She was the absolute perfect patient and every single staff member came into the room to see her. I’m not even kidding. She took every test and poke and prod like a champ. She was so sweet.
At one point she started to get a little gassy and bless it, she is rank. Well, the nurse walked in and Ryder sits up and says, “I’m sorry about that smell, I let out a little toot.”
WHY MUST MY KIDS EMBARRASS ME EVERY SINGLE TIME WE GO TO THE DOCTOR?!
Good news is that Ryder claimed it and the nurse didn’t have to wonder if it was me. So I guess that part is a win.
She was diagnosed with bronchiolitis and got an RX for a steroid and breathing treatments. She is already back to her old self and I’m so glad.
Little note: My children had a little over a year straight where they didn’t run any fever. IS THAT CRAZY OR WHAT?!
Sunday afternoon we headed for Chattanooga to round out Rory’s birthday week and celebrate Valentine’s for them. Our gift to them for Valentine’s/Rory’s birthday was to see Disney Jr Live Pirate and Princess show. We had an absolute blast and the girls loved it. I think they actually enjoyed the pirate part better than the princess part!
Last week was busy and full of fun things. I’m so glad we have today at home to play and relax. Now hopefully all this rain won’t ice over because I’m pretty sure these children of mine NEED TO GO TO SCHOOL TOMORROW OKAY?! ha!
I vlogged last week and its longer than I intended because it was so many days of it. Next time I will only do a few days at a time so it will be shorter.
Winter birthdays are hard because you have to have an indoor party. And the cost of finding a place big enough for a party and then supplying everything for the party ends up being $200++++ depending on how big you go.
So I made the executive decision that THIS year we would take a little overnight trip instead. We had planned for years to take Rory to Disney on her 5th birthday, but life happens and you move and just can’t swing it. It happens, right?!
After a lot of discussion over where to go, Andy and I decided on Wilderness at the Smokies. It is a resort and indoor water park. There were so many fun things to do other than the water park too- they have a ropes course, playground, arcade, mini golf, bowling, laser tag, and more I can’t remember. They also have restaurants at the resort so you don’t even have to leave ever. We absolutely loved it. Every single one of us. I can’t say enough great things about the weekend there. The room was great and every other accommodation was great too. We can’t wait to go back! The best part? We spent less than we would have on a party and had zero stress. WINNING.
I just have to say that Rory mastered every single attraction. She did such an awesome job on the ropes coarse and went down every slide. She also did so good on the surfer thing (I have no idea what it is actually called). I was so proud of her and her determination to do everything she could without fear!
I got a lot of a video and a few pictures. But mostly I just PLAYED with the girls and put my phone and camera away for most of the trip. It was WONDERFUL. Enjoy the video!
(Side note: we had planned to go to Dixie Stampede with Rory and her new “Dolly Partner” dress but we ended up going THE ONE WEEK they take a break in the year. Guess we will have to go back and take her another weekend!)
This is a bit of an update for you- I am in love with this! I’ve been using it ever day and have noticed a great difference in my skin texture. If I skip a day I can tell which is the sign of a good product. I use it with the philosophy purity cleanser and I think it is worth the investment for sure!
Okay, so those are my Five Friday Faves in the makeup department for January. Next month I will film it!
Well I finally got a new camera and have been loving it. Yesterday I decided to film my “Five Minute Face” tutorial since I needed to put makeup on anyway. The problem with filming and talking during the filming is that it doesn’t take five minutes.
I did time this several times and got between 5-7 minutes every time when I just did my makeup without having to stop. So I promise it is a quick face! ha! This isn’t my favorite video but some people who have no makeup experience will get something out of it!
The most important thing to look out for is the times I break out into random song. I just can’t help it. I am so my mother.

My favorite thing about my new town is the fact that I don’t have to go to Walmart if I don’t want to. BUT I will say we have a great Walmart here so its kind of a win-win. I don’t have to go, but if I do it isn’t too bad.
On Saturday Andy and I went to Walmart together because we had to get our oil changed. It went especially well and I couldn’t believe how great the kids did. The key is to get two buggies so they can’t touch each other. The other key to success is to let Andy do most of the grocery shopping with one child while I shop the beauty aisles with another. WINNING.
Then we went to the check out line. While waiting for Andy to meet me to check out, we had two different people talk to us.
The first one was a nice lady who leaned in close and said, “Hiiii sweet girl! You are just too cute!” Annnd apparently she spit when she talked because Ryder leans away from her and gives her THAT look and says, “Why you spit in my mouph?!” I COULD HAVE CRAWLED IN A HOLE AND DIED.
The second person was a little old lady. She had a walker and couldn’t have been less than 92 years old. I’m not joking at all on this. She stopped to talk and held her little hand out. Ryder says to her, “wait, I’m not a toucher.” The lady laughed. Then she told her, “I not talk to strangers.” After telling her it was okay since I was there she said, “So you a grandma stranger? Why you walking with that? You a old grandma today?”
The child has NO FILTER. None. Luckily old Grandma Stranger had a great sense of humor and thought she was cute.
After our Walmart trip we went bowling with the Dixon’s. We had the best time. I was a little worried because y’all know how Andy is when he’s bowling… but there were no issues. haha! Rory had me in tears from laughing because she was so prissy when bowling. I got video so you can see it. It was so hilarious. She would have bowled all night too. I couldn’t believe her stamina. Oh. Who am I kidding. Rory is the queen of stamina.
Also, Amber and Bill have the sweetest baby ever, Lucas, and my girls are madly in love with him. They cannot get enough. And now they pray every single night for a baby in their family. I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO TO GET THEM TO STOP. hahaha
Yesterday I cleaned out our room and closet. I put up 7 loads of laundry I had avoided putting up all week last week. It felt so dang good to have a fully cleaned and organized room. I’m hoping to keep it that way. I love escaping to our bedroom during rest time and at night but it is hard to escape if we have it as the catch-all.
Then I watched the Golden Globes. I will say this: I have loved the GG for so long and it has become one of my favorite award shows because it is so much more casual and usually HILARIOUS. But this year I basically just felt “eh” about the whole thing. I think the joking about North Korea is getting old. Margaret Cho got on my nerves being on there so much. I just think Tina and Amy are funnier than that and that the whole thing was a miss on that part. I did LOVE George Clooney’s speech. I mean, Andy has never used “alchemy” when talking about me which I feel is a disgrace.
I will say I absolutely loved all of the silver dresses last night. Is it just me or are they totally inspired by the late 90s/early 2000s. Except much more chic and much less punk. My favorite in silver were Julianne Moore, Salma Hayek, Ellie Kemper, and Reese Witherspoon.
Here is the vlog I did over the weekend, enjoy! (Side note: I need to figure out how to be able to change the screen on the videos because this is not a pretty look.)
Here are some notes: next time I will not be so zoomed in; next time I won’t use a new face cream and be so broken out; next time I won’t be so much of a debbie downer; MAYBE THERE WON’T EVEN BE A NEXT TIME, OK?!
I hope y’all like the video- let me know what you think!
