Rory’s 4th Birthday Party

I know it has been a while since I’ve blogged, so what better way to end the break than with Rory’s 4th Birthday Party?!

As y’all know, Rory is a MORNING PERSON. Girlfriend wakes up early and enjoys the mornings. So I decided because that is her PRIME TIME OF LIFE I should most definitely have her party in the morning.

I stayed up late doing some of the decorations and watching the Olympic Opening Ceremony (duh) and I somehow ended up on the couch at about 5am this morning. I woke up to Rory rubbing my face saying, “Mom- you are amazing! You did all this?! You are magical, Mom! You are so wonderful!”

Now, y’all- that is pretty much the most wonderful way to wake up EVER.

Then as if I weren’t magical super mom enough, we look outside and it is SNOWING. I don’t want to brag, but me and THE LORD are tight and we had a talk about how I’d be the BEST MOM EVER if it snowed on Rory’s FROZEN themed birthday party day and well, HE CAME THROUGH, Y’ALL. HA!

Rory has declared this to be “the best day ever in her life” and I’m pretty sure she had an awesome time.

Enough talking, here are a few pics from the party! Now, y’all know I don’t take the best pictures and I tried to just enjoy the party and not overdo it on the picture front so you’ll have to excuse me on that part. I do hope you enjoy though!

The Birthday Girl in front of her cake (that you can’t see oops).

Some of the decor. I feel like the pictures definitely don’t do it justice. Rory said it was a “frozen wonderland” so I’m going to pretend that I did an awesome job.

The food! I typed up labels for all the food and TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THEM so dang, I had a fail for the day. We had cake (obvi), build your own snowmen treats, “ice”/aka blue jello, icey drinks, and “snowballs”/aka powered donuts.

I got the cake at the local WalMart and y’all, it was GOOD. I’m pretty sure my girls and I have the same love language which is CHOCOLATE CAKE.

Rory loved every single present. After everyone left she got them all back out and just stared at them in wonder. She said “I didn’t know everyone was going to give me so much! I just love my friends!”. PRECIOUS.

We are just so thankful for Rory and especially thankful she has some wonderful friends who showed her so much love today. There is NOTHING that makes this momma happier than seeing her with her friends and knowing she is loved.

Mom and Dad love you so much Rory girl! Hope you had a wonderful day today celebrating your birthday!

Rory’s official birthday post will come Wednesday on her actual birthday. We have lots of fun things in store!

a Friday post about halloween and singing and tackiness.

Every single week I try and try to write my blogs at night and have them ready to post.

And every single night of every single week I take my laptop out and then end up shutting it and going to sleep.

I just can’t hang anymore with the night owls.

Neither can Andy or Rory.1455866_10100886616670146_634664967_n[1]

So here I go again, scrabbling for a post on a Friday.

One day I will get the hang on blogging and working all at the same time.

Last week was Halloween and I can’t have a family blog without posting some pics of it. The girls were a cupcake (Rory) and an ice cream cone (Ryder).

Unfortunately, Ryder has NO IDEA what ice cream is thanks to the ol’ milk allergy, so when I put her costume on she was real confused.

She kept looking in the mirror saying, “Momma… ??? What I is?! What I issss mommaaaaa????”

Bless her little heart.

My plan for Halloween was the have this big bonfire at our house and I had invited pretty much everyone I know in Savannah.

Including random strangers at WalMart.

Well the flood came down on that frightful night and no trick or treating was to be had.

But I did have a good group of friends come to the house and we ate and laughed and had a good ol’ time together. I was so glad because since it was so rainy it would have been a total bummer of a night had we not been with friends.

Just for kicks and grins, here is a little collage of the past four Halloweens.

So precious.

I decided to be the “fun mom” and dress up too.

Meet Katy Perry and her extras from the California Gurls video – ha!

And I just want to state for the record that HALF OF THE PEOPLE at my party didn’t know who Katy Perry was.

Speaking of Katy Perry- we are so loving her new CD, but especially ROAR. My girls beg for me to put it on every time we get the car. Here’s a little video of Ryder singing it.

I think her southern twang takes it to another level.

I have no idea where she gets that from.

Now let’s discuss Rory.

One of Rory’s favorite things to do is to get up really early and dress herself for the day. I delight in this. I’m not one of those moms who says no and makes them wear exactly what I want them to…. well to an extent. I told her to make sure she had on long sleeves and long pants. That was her only criteria. Usually she dresses semi-decent to cute. Like the above photo.

She’s also in this weird phase where she feels like she HAS to wear two shirts and two pants. I have no idea what that is about.

I tried yesterday when she wore the above outfit to get a picture of the girls together. This is the best I got. Ryder was especially hateful and LOVES to aggravate. Can you tell??

photo (2)

That child.

So this morning Rory woke up (without us knowing she got into our bed at some point) and I told her to go to her room and get some clothes on. She bounces away into her room because this is her most favorite time of day.

And then she came out. SO PROUD OF HERSELF.

Now y’all. I love her creativity. I would never want to stifle that.

I just had to draw the line somewhere- and THAT OUTFIT RIGHT THERE WAS IT.

I praised her for being “so big!” and “so clever!” and “what an imagination!”……..

and then took her precious little arms and said, “honey, mommy loves you so very much but you are going to have to change some of these clothes a little bit. They just really don’t match and MOMMY LOVES YOU and I will help you pick out something that matches better!!! IT’LL BE FUN!”

*wail* *sob* *wail*

“BUT MOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM I just HAVE to wear these because they are stuck and CANNOT COME OFF OF ME”.

Finally we got her into something else. It wasn’t traumatic or anything….

I’m a terrible mother for making her change, I know I know.

But y’all I just couldn’t handle the green shorts over the orange and black leggings. I JUST COULDN’T LET HER GO TO SCHOOL THAT WAY.

I mean, she already looks like a homeless person 99% of the time.

It was like tacky day all over again except NOT ON TACKY DAY.

Okay. I shall go now. I must mentally prepare myself because I have done signed myself up for a 5k tomorrow.

I’m sure there will be a hilarious “Tiffany” story to come out of this.

Have a great weekend!

she’s alive!

As it turns out, I’m not so good at the whole blogging and full time jobbing thing. I shall try, try, try to do much better though because y’all know I just love this blog of mine.

That sounds so vain. But you understand what I’m saying.

This week was even crazier than usual for many reasons, but one major reason was because I went to the Backstreet Boys concert! Holla!

Now. Let me just say that Backstreet Boys were big when I was growing up but I wasn’t really a fan of them because NSYNC was my jam. I loved them so much. I still do. Sigh.

Anyways- Backstreet put on a good concert and it was fun having a girls night out!

1098390_10100795906533986_1517627113_n 1150159_10100796081837676_883649391_n

This weekend has also been an usual/crazy weekend. The girls went to my sister’s house Saturday and stayed the night with my parents Saturday night because Andy was helping move the new pastor and his family into their new house here. I had a great time that afternoon getting to know the new pastor’s wife a little better in the mix of the craziness of boxes. I always realize later that my sense of humor is a little odd to people so hopefully I didn’t scare her. Ha!

We ended up getting done with everything early so Andy and I had the bright idea to go bowling to have SO MUCH FUN on a date night being active and young again!

We got in the car and I realized we were dressed almost identical to each other. Same color shorts. Same color shirt. That’s a true love connection right there.

Bowling, as it turns out, isn’t our strong sport. It is not what we excel at in life.

Problem is, Andy has a severe issue with not excelling in bowling.

And I knew this before we went on date night.

You see, every so often I apparently like to try our marriage by suggesting things like golfing, bowling, basketball, etc.

I regret my lack of memory and stupidity every single time.

Once when we were dating/engaged Andy invited me to go golfing with him. I thought it was fabulous. I thought “OH HECK YES! I’m going to learn to play golf with my husband and join The Club and spend my days as a trophy wife looking cute in my polos and cute bermudas.”

Oh how wrong I was. The golf trip ended with Andy getting mad and throwing his golf club down and it bouncing back and nailing me right across the nose. Lots of blood everywhere and a vow to never golf with him again was the result of that trip.

The last time Andy and I bowled together was similar. I didn’t get hurt, but it was a true miracle that I didn’t.

Andy tends to bowl badly, especially at first. And when this happens it just gets worse because he starts CHUNKING the bowling ball down the lane. One time it even bounced over into another lane.

To add fuel to the fire, I can’t help but laugh. I swear, y’all, I get so down right tickled I cannot handle it. I laugh and laugh and laugh and he gets more and more mad because I’m laughing….

It’s about that time I realize how much of an idiot I am for suggesting these things that would be SO MUCH FUN.

Because they never are.

Well, they never are for Andy… I ALWAYS have the best time ever because I laugh the entire time.

Here is a video of the bowling fun for your enjoyment.

Okay, so that brings us to the craziness of yesterday. (Crazy is apparently the only word I can come up with in all the no sleep going on around here right now.)

Sunday night Rory woke up hysterically crying because her ear was hurting. We calmed her down and gave her some Tylenol and thought it was swimmers ear.

Then she woke up this morning with all kinds of nastiness coming out of it. I knew something wasn’t right, of course. I sent some texts out to some of my medical friends (nurses, NP, etc) and they all said the same thing.

So I ended up after lots of blood coming out of her ear taking her to the ER because no other office was open and the blood made me so nervous.

Ended up that she had a really terrible inner and middle ear infection with a partially ruptured ear drum. I feel like mom of the year.

So we are in the waiting room before seeing the doctor and there were all kinds of weirdos in there and Rory was just staring at each one.

This one lady sitting across from us was just passed out and snoring so loud. Well suddenly she sat straight up and looked around with big, crazy eyes.

Cue my stinker to shout at the top of her lungs:

Now there were approximately 30 other people in the waiting room with varying ailments but you better believe my stinker brought them all together and made them feel a little bit better. I know this because of the uncontrollable giggling that went on for the next hour in that there ER waiting room.

Oh yes, she was alive. But I nearly died of embarrassment.

Hope y’all have a wonderful week!

We have had a crazy busy week! And I have become quite the blog slacker! And I can’t stop with the exclamation marks! None of this is exciting enough for exclamation marks!

Monday was Memorial Day and we had some family over for the day. The kids swam, the guys (and me too but I don’t want to talk about how terrible I was) played washers (or warshers if you are extra special), we ate and ate and ate, and we talked and talked and talked. It was a great day and I loved having everyone at our house for the first time!

Also, I got no pictures. Fail.

Tuesday was my “day off” aka Mother’s Day Out. I prepped some furniture, ate with my Tuesday lunch girls, and then decided I wanted to watch Gilmore Girls start to finish. Again.

Basically, I was REAL productive.

On Wednesday we had our first pool playdate of the summer! It was so much fun and all the kids were so good and had a blast!

960228_10100675184481946_1814730813_n 931400_10100675227086566_1907662346_n

Bought a house with a pool and suddenly I’m the most popular person in Savannah.

HAAA! kidding! I’m so excited to have a fun summer with friends over all the time!

Yesterday was Ryder’s last Thursday at school (they are going just Tuesdays in June) so I decided to take advantage of it and have a Rory Fun Day! This time we drove to Memphis and met some friends at the zoo! Next time we meet up we will have to do something that Wilder and Rory can actually play together and interact more!

Rory was so sweet the whole day. She was so excited and loved every second of the day and so did I! I love getting some one on one time with her.

We got home and Rory was determined she was going to swim. This girl is seriously A FISH. She has gotten really good in the water too. She saw some big kids swimming with their faces in the water so now she swims with hers in there too. Its so cute.

Now let’s discuss something here.

Ryder is KILLING ME with her eating.

I know, I know… what’s new?

But people, this is the TOTAL OPPOSITE problem we had when she was a baby and wouldn’t eat.

Now I can’t get enough in her.

(this is not a complaint, I just want y’all to know about the craziness of it)

Every single day she wakes up yelling, “Momma! Sausage! Waffles! Mommaaaa! Waffles! Sausage!”.

What am I?! Chopped liver?! Can I get a “Momma! Good Morning! I love you! You are the best mother who ever walked this earth! I can’t wait to spend the day NOT getting into trouble with you!” ?????????!!!!

So this morning Rory opted to eat cereal and Ryder, obviously, wanted WAFFLES.

She then proceeded to eat three waffles, about a cup of strawberries, and a sausage patty. Oh, yes she did.

Then about thirty minutes later, she came to me and said, “Momma! Snack! Snack peeease!”

Insert the “excuse me????” mom-face.

That is why we shall forever call her The Piraña.

I mean, I don’t know about you, but I’m scared of those teeth just about as bad as a real life piraña’s teeth. For Reals.

Have a great weekend!

Rory Fun Day, Part 2

Today has been another “Rory Fun Day” and I will be honest, I wasn’t sure how it was going to go. See on Tuesday, we went somewhere special and she felt special all day because we were doing fun things all day, and today I knew we would just be home so I wasn’t quite sure how it would go.

Well, y’all, I gotta tell you… it has been wonderful.

She has been such a precious sweetheart child.

So much so that I feel incredibly guilty for getting so frustrated with her so much.

As you all know, she is quite the strong willed child. As in, she is completely 100% the definition of strong willed. And man, that is HARD to deal with because you have such a fine line between disciplining correctly and crushing their little spirit.

So it has been so nice to have her all by herself and SO EASY. She has helped me clean, cook, and do laundry. She and I were able to play her LeapPad together today for a good long while (and I was shocked at how good she was at all the games and apps on there). We have had long, uninterrupted talks about anything and everything. We had a little spa time and got mani/pedis in Mommy’s bathroom.

529152_10100619999153786_619235842_n-1So I thought today I would do some Rory-isms that have come from this week. This child is hilarious and so smart it is scary.

– Today at Walmart a lady with a SHORT skirt and HIGH heels walked in as we were walking out and Rory yelled, “Her needs to put some clothes on!”. Hahahaha! Indeed she did. But that stems from us saying that to her if she strips down around here. So she thought she’d say it to a stranger! ha!

– Apparently I have called Ryder a little turd out loud in front of them (most of the time I do it behind their backs, ha!) because Rory has started calling her that. But it isn’t in an ugly way as you would assume- she says it like I do, as a term of endearment. For example: Ryder is running from her as they play and Rory says, “You come back here, you little turd!”, all while laughing hysterically. I can’t help but laugh myself.

– Today Rory put a shirt on with a pocket in the front. She said to me very seriously, “Momma, you know what pockets are for?”. I said, “No! What are they for?” and she said, “Pockets are made to hold money, so I probably need a bunch of money in this pocket right here.”

– At lunch yesterday Rory wanted to play with my phone while we waited for our food. She clicked on Netflix to watch something and it was taking a minute to load up. She looked up at me and said, “Its okay, Mom, its just loading. It’ll take just a minute.” Ha!

– One of her very favorite things to say right now is, “That is CRAAAAzy.” She says it about everything and when she says it she closes her eyes and does a little chuckle then says, “that. is. crazy.”- it is so cute!

– Last night I snapped my fingers and Rory had a big ol’ contemplating frown on her face. She said, “I can’t snap. I wish I was bigger already so I could snap.” Bless her heart. ha!

– This morning at 5:15 I started feeling lots of taps on my face. It was Rory, standing over me with a huge smile on her face. She said, “Hey Momma, I got a big idea! Let’s go eat cheese and dip with Daddy today!”. It was PRECIOUS. Unfortunately, Daddy is on outage week so we couldn’t do it this week. She has said that several times today again, though. “Hey Momma, I got a big idea! Let’s paint my toenails!”, “Hey Momma, I got a big idea! Let’s get me some money!”, “Hey Momma, I got a big idea! Let’s play dress up!”. Seriously so so so sweet.

I am just loving this time with my big girl!

Now if you will excuse me… I have a nap to take seeing as I’ve been up since 4 am after being up several times with Ryder.

Apparently my children conspire against me in the sleep area. If Ryder sleeps through the night, Rory will be up. Rory has slept 3 nights in a row in her own bed until the sun comes up (HUGE, Y’ALL) and Ryder has been up all night every night and waking up for the day around 5ish.

Little turds.

I don’t do much.

I get asked a WHOLE lot, “what do you do all day?”, especially from my working mom friends.

To which I reply:

Apparently stay at home moms are such a mystery.

So let me divulge a little, if you will.

After being up all night (every night…) despite all my efforts to make those heifer children sleep, I wake up bright and early (meaning if I get to sleep until 6 it is a true miracle) every single morning. Now, my children are not like most people and wake up slowly and want to snuggle or be lazy.

My children bound out of bed ready to embrace the day.

And for some reason they expect me not to hold a grudge for keeping me up all night.

Selfish turds.

So I have to wake up as happy as they are and pretend I got a full 8 hours of sleep.

The rest of the day consists of me cleaning up messes… and there are A LOT OF MESSES… over and over and over again.

I also have to feed them, bathe them, and make sure they don’t kill eachother or themselves all day long.

Not to mention trying to do “school” on the days they are home which consists of Rory writing her name 10939843 times and a fun activity to help get their creativity/imagination going.

I also have a couple of side “jobs” that I have deadlines for, the blog, oh and a husband to keep fed/happy.

So yeah. I don’t do much.

Rory is on spring break this week so yesterday we dropped Ryder off at school (and both children, but especially Rory cried a lot about this arrangement) and went to Florence to have a Rory Fun Day!

The whole purpose of our trip was to go to the children’s museum, but once we got there I found out IT IS CLOSED ON TUESDAYS.

I mean, really… I have the worst luck ever.

So, on to Target we went. Rory LOVED shopping with me because I didn’t get a cart and just let her walk beside me. She ran from one object to another saying, “Mommy, let me show you something!” or “Want to see something new, Mommy?”.

It was so cute.

Until she came running at me with the tiniest and most outrageously leopard printed bra EVER MADE and said, “Look Mommy! It is just your size and soooo pretty!”.

I quickly shushed her and put the clearly non-support item back and turned around to find a young couple and a pair of old lady friends laughing hysterically.

Such is my life.

I should totes have a reality show.

We then went to Chili’s to eat a little lunch together and Rory was so funny. I let her sit across from me in the booth by herself and after a minute she said, “Momma, I don’t like being so far away from you!” and came over to my side. She really is such a sweetie.

After lunch, I took Rory to a movie. She was SO CUTE in the movie. We got there and got popcorn and drinks and went to find our seat. (We were the only ones in there until right when the movie started.) Rory walked in and looked around and just kept saying, “oh wow, this fee-ater SO BIG”. She just had the best time. And much to my surprise, she sat and watched the entire movie. She also ate an entire bag of popcorn all by herself. ha!

I had such a fun day with that little stinker. It also reminds me that life is SO MUCH EASIER with just one kid. haha!

But dang, I wouldn’t trade stinker #1 or stinker #2 for anything in the world.

Especially when they pick me flowers and giggle the whole way to hand it to me.

Happy Wednesday!

chair makeovers

So, since moving into the new house, I’ve been racking up quite a few projects. I have six large pieces to paint and have six more chairs to recover left to do on this project list.

The past two days I have been working on my breakfast nook table and my barstools.

My neighbor, Jenilyn, was wanting a new table so she asked if I wanted her old one. I LOVE the table and the color she used to distress it. The only thing I needed to do was recover the chairs.

As for the barstools, I just got the cheapest ones I could find, which happened to be for $20 a piece at Walmart. Hint: Barstools are EXPENSIVE. They looked fine as they were but I wanted them to look better and to be more unique.

Here is the before of the breakfast table chairs:

Barstools- Before:

All I did on this project was unscrew the seat of the chairs and take off the old fabric. Then I put one thin layer of batting over the cushion. Then I got my fabric and started stapling! I am no expert on such things and my chairs are FAR FROM perfect, but just pull it tight and make your way around the cushion and it’ll work out… even if you have to pull some staples and try again!

I can’t believe what a difference these two small changes have made to the living areas. I’m going to do our “formal” dining table chairs in the yellow and white fabric. I have leftover fabric for each materials so I’m going to my mom is going to make some throw pillows for the living room.

While I was trying to do all of these projects, which the bulk got done while the girls were at school, I had two little heifers constantly getting into things and making a mess.

Basically, they know how to take advantage of their momma when she is doing things around the house or has a project for once.

Why, yes, Ryder DID unroll an entire NEW roll of toilet paper while I put a load of laundry on. Rory actually had nothing to do with this mess, but decided she might as well go potty and take advantage of the toilet paper.

Also. That is, OF COURSE, our last roll so now I’m having to use that mess for the rest of the day.

‘Tis my life.

Rory has been working hard on tracing her name. She’s such a little smarty pants.

She can spell her name too, which she can thank her momma for pretty much giving her the easiest name EVER to spell! ha! I’m so proud of my big girl!

Happy Wednesday!

Rory’s 3rd Birthday Party

On Saturday we had Rory’s 3rd birthday party and had the best day. I had decided to do a Cowgirl theme and my plan was for it to be pink and black but then dates had to be changed and I literally had a week and a half to pull it all together. I was so afraid it’d be too boyish, but I ended up loving how it turned out. Rory is NOT a girlie girl. Sure, she likes to dress up and all, but she would rather be outside getting dirty and playing with trucks. She’s the best of both worlds to me!

My friend, Haley, and her family own an old general store and since our current house is tiny and I don’t even have a dining room table because I have no room, we decided to have it there. It is very western/country and worked PERFECT for the cowgirl theme.IMG_6121

Haley also made the fabulous cupcakes!

Rory was so funny because we had talked about it being her party but we knew she didn’t really understand. So when she got there she ran in SO EXCITED but then when she saw people there just for her and all the decorations and stuff she got SO SHY. It was precious. The entire party she was kinda shy and when we sang Happy Birthday she got so teased/embarrassed.

IMG_6132 IMG_6134

My mom made this skirt for Rory and one for Ryder, and it was PERFECT!

IMG_6139 IMG_6147

Ryder loved getting to spend time with everyone too! But unfortunately, neither one of my girls were really in picture taking moods, ha!

We kept it low-key and I invited a few or our/Rory’s friends here and just family. It was kinda last minute so some people weren’t able to come, but we still had a great time!

My family- minus Tasha and the boys, we missed them very much!

Andy’s family- minus his brother and sister and bro-in law that live out of town. We missed them too!

“Miss-us Sharon” and her four sweet kids. Rory ALWAYS says “miss-us” instead of miss. We crack up every time!

Our friends- Clay, Haley, and Preston

Haley and I- couldn’t have done this party without her help!

Sharon and I- she has been such a sweet friend to me and has made such a difference in Rory’s life this year. I’m so thankful for her!

Telena and I- I didn’t think they’d get to come and was so excited when they worked it out. Rory and Ryder adore my sister and it is so fun to see Telena get to finally the fun aunt since her kids are older. I used to be the fun aunt before I had kids… now I’m the crazy (er)/tired aunt. HA!

Rory and Aunt ‘Lena

Telena and Josh

Josh and Ryder – he is the best uncle to my kids!

My nephew, Jacks, who Ryder is a carbon copy of… soon I will find some pictures of him Ryder’s age and show y’all how much they look alike… it is insane!

Jacy will LOVE me for this picture of her eating- ha! They stood by the fire to stay warm.

My mom and Rory talking about something serious!

Ryder telling my mom something… who knows what. This girl is BOSSY and will tell you how it is. Ha!

As I was looking through the pictures, I realized most of the pictures I got of Ryder were of her eating. Its so funny to me that the first YEAR of her life (literally) was such a struggle to get her to eat and now girlfriend CAN’T GET ENOUGH. She is serious about her food and you better not get in the way!

We sang “Happy Birthday” to Rory, and she was so shy and teased about it but I thought that was too cute. She blew her candles out right away!

Ryder loved the cupcakes too!

After we ate the cupcakes, it was time to open gifts! I can’t even tell you how much Rory has enjoyed EVERY SINGLE GIFT. She was playing with ALL of them this weekend after the party and she would run up to me and say, “Mom! Did you see THIS ONE????”, and it was seriously so sweet. She genuinely loved all of them and was so proud of each one. I love that about her. She thinks everything is so special. When I put a new shirt or whatever on her and tell her we got it for her she will say, “You got this just for ME????? Oh, thank you so much Mommy, I love you!”. Can’t get more precious than that!

Rory ended up getting two Doc McStuffins dolls and y’all, it could not have worked out better for this momma. When Rory opened the first one Ryder about lost it from excitement. So, I’m keeping both and also keeping peace in this house. They have carried those dolls around NONSTOP and absolutely love them.

I also got a piñata which I thought was a little crazy for a 3 year old but couldn’t pass up the cowboy boot! Fortunately, there were only three kids under 3, so it worked out great. The big kids loved getting to hit the piñata and so did the little kids!

(Side note: I think Rory may be my little softball player. hehe.)

Ryder was so cute trying to hit it! They both were so serious with their tongues out the whole time!

Both girls ended up having the best time. In fact, on the way home, Rory very seriously said to me, “Momma, know what? This the best day EBBBER!”. I teared up for real, because I love that she is so loved and was able to have a day just for her. She was only 16 months old when Ryder was born, so it has been rare in the past 19 months of Ryder’s life that she has had a day just for her. (And even the times I do try to spend one on one time with her she HATES it and begs for Ryder, ha!)

I’m so thankful for everyone who came and was apart of her birthday party. She is so special to us and we are so proud of the little girl she is becoming.

I will now go shed some tears and hug her tight because, man, these years are flying by.

(And once again, I just want to say thank you to Haley and her family for letting us use their place. It was perfect! Haley also helped me so much with cupcakes, setting up, and most of all, taking all these pictures so that I could just enjoy the party!)

weekend update: Tunica edition

Well, folks, the children are actually napping at the same time today so I’m getting a little time of quiet to myself and am actually able to write a little post today.

This weekend the dear husband planned a surprise getaway for us. This is the first time he has ever done that, and I’m telling you, I didn’t care where we were going I was just excited no matter what!

I do believe the most romantic thing a husband can do for his wife is get a babysitter all by himself. No joke.

So Andrew took me to Tunica because we’d never been there and we had the best time just getting to spend time together without interruptions from little people. Also, I got two nights of awesome sleep AND a long nap on Saturday. That is my idea of a perfect weekend away!

I will admit I fell off the diet bandwagon a bit though. So I’m back at it today!

Before I left for the vacation I was about 12 lbs down, but refuse to weigh until I get some gym time and days of dieting in- ha!

While we were there we went shopping at a little outlet mall there. I was able to finally get Rory some clothes since she has all of a sudden grown out of pretty much all of her clothes. She has just shot up and is so tall all of a sudden. Precious girl- how is she almost three already?

Here she is in her new PJs. She kept doing this silly face she’s been doing. She mostly uses this face to try and get out of trouble. It is so hard not to laugh at it.

This Rory girl is such a little sweetheart. She is the most compassionate and caring child. She is always asking Ryder if she is okay if she falls down or if she is crying. She is always trying to take care of her little sister. And she is so loving on Andy and I. She will just hug us and says, “I just love you!”, about 20 times a day . I’m so proud of the little girl she is becoming. She’s still strong-willed but she’s the sweetest.

Ryder, on the other hand, has apparently entered the terrible twos a little early. I remember Rory going through this at about her age. She has come up with this fake cry that IS MAKING ME INSANE. She is usually my delightful child but today, she is the most undelightful little toot you’ve ever seen.

Let’s just say when it is time for Zumba tonight I will be out the door in about two seconds flat.

This week is busy with preparations for Rory’s birthday party. We are having a small little cowgirl party on Saturday morning. She is so excited and so am I! This is her first “real” birthday party. I thought about doing something really girly but decided that well, that is just NOT Rory. She is a tomboy and loves all things cowgirl/animals/etc. I’m so excited to see how it all turns out. You better believe there will be lots of pictures!

I wish I had more exciting things to talk about, but alas, I do not. I am taking the girls to the store this afternoon though so I am sure they will do something to embarrass me.

Alright! It’s time for this momma to get a shower before the kids wake up! Another miracle!
