I am officially as ready as I think I’ll be (mentally) to have this baby! I read some birth stories on The Bump today and they didn’t horrify me, surprisingly! I’m just so ready to see what/who Rory looks like (warning: my family has strong genes… I’ve been identical to my mother since birth). I wonder if she’ll look anything like my niece or nephews did or if she’ll look more like Andy’s family. I’m dying to see if she has a head full of hair or if she’s going to be bald. Either way I KNOW she’ll be perfect in every way.
On another note- Andy is loving his job. How do I know this? He has talked a lot about it. Again, this is huge. More importantly though, this is Andy’s perfect job. Here’s why: 1) he can wear jeans every single day, 2) he can wear his boots that he wears constantly, and most importantly 3) he can wear a hat. Yes, thats right, he can wear a hat every single day if he wants to. Pretty sure he’s in job heaven. 🙂
Andy has also made a friend at work. He’s a fellow engineer that he had met before coming here on some training trips. Its really cute because they are SO much alike, as all engineers are. They even set up for us to hang out this past weekend without any kind of pressure from the wives, ha! His wife is adorable and so funny. We got along wonderfully. As much as engineers are all alike, I think the women who marry them are alike as well. They are new to the area too and haven’t met anyone around here either. Anyways, we had a wonderful time together and I can’t wait to get to know them better.
Andy got an official offer today to go to Valliant, OK with his company. We will definitely miss this little house and the friends we’ve made here & I’m positive if it weren’t for pending baby I’d be having a harder time saying goodbye. We will be moving the first of January and Rory’s due date is Feb 17(ish) but my doctor insists I won’t make it that long. We shall see!!!!
Andy and I have been blessed to be able so far in our marriage to make it home for every major holiday- until this year. God’s timing is impeccable as always because it was a welcomed quiet Thanksgiving just us. We slept late, went to Cracker Barrel (no cooking or cleaning! yay!) and did some shopping. Of course we missed our family so much, but it was really nice to not have to stress and worry over packing, driving, seeing everyone, etc.
So this is late but here are some things I am SO thankful for this year:
- God’s faithfulness to us! For a couple of weeks we had no idea whether or not Andy would have a job and He provided exactly what we needed @ the right time!
- An amazing husband who goes out of his way to make me feel loved everyday and who provides for our family. I could not ask for more, he is so wonderful! I can’t wait to see him with Rory and being a great father to her.
- Little Rory Eve- our little miracle! Her timing is perfect and she is well loved already. We can’t wait to hold her and watch her grow!
- Our wonderful families. We have supportive parents, great siblings, and fantastic niece and nephews. Through this huge transition and wait game of Andy’s job we’ve seen our immediate family and extended go out of their ways to give advice, love, listen and most importantly PRAY for us during the unknown. Thank you guys for being our rocks here on earth!
Of course there is much more I am thankful for- I could write all day! I will continue to update as we know more about the move. At 30 weeks pregnant this week, we’re ready to get the ball rolling!!!
Many people have been asking me on facebook and at other times if we have a baby name yet. Well, the answer is yes. I’m hesitant to state the name on facebook because I know three people who have done so and had someone else conveniently have the same name afterwards… I do not want this to happen to me!!!! So, I will just be officially announcing the name on our website for now!
Rory Eve Harris
Rory is a name I have loved for years and years, and Andy finally agreed to give me my #1 pick of a name. Eve comes from Andy’s grandmother, Evelyn, and of course it also rhymes with Steve as we have been told!
This past weekend we made a trip to Starkville for the Homecoming game. Unfortunately they disappointed us (again) and lost. We are just praying that by the time Rory goes to school there (she better!!! haha) they will have a great team! Of course we still love our Dawgs and will continue to at least try and make it to one game a year. So we had to go to The Lodge in Starkville and get Rory her first MS State dress for next year! We also got her a MS State pacifier and pacifier clip. Here is a picture of the dress:
My sweet friend Emily also put together a last minute baby shower and I am so thankful. We got two burp cloths, towels and washcloth set, a swaddle blanket, a sweet thermal outfit, and three other cute outfits. Emily has two girls (Riley and Olivia who are absolutely adorable!) and she just had her last child, a boy. Lucky for us Emily has passed on some of the girls’ clothes! Here is a picture of all we got this weekend- the front row and outfits in the back are from shower, the stacks of clothes are the ones Emily gave me that the girls have out grown. Also, Olivia and Riley picked out Rory a gift- her first baby doll! She’s in the picture too!
I mean, of course we were destined to have a girl… we had EVERYTHING for a boy already! HA!
Here are the ultrasound pictures! More of a post to come!
Sorry its taken so long! I lost my camera for a week or so in the move. Here’s some pictures… more to come very soon, I promise!
These are pics of the front of house, the living room and OF COURSE the MAN ROOM! The Man Room is the first room that was completed. More pictures to come when more progress is made!
Well, we should have named him Terror, ha! He is a little stinker! I guess Jackson and Jersey were always so small so they never tested us as much so early. But Tucker is!! We have a field beside our house with really tall grass and it is Tucker’s very favorite place to go… and of course, you can’t catch him if he’s in the field. So, needless to say, Tucker is always on a leash now. He’s a really good puppy though and is doing really well “telling” us when he needs to go potty (meaning, he runs and plows into the door several times so there is no mistaking it). He also LOVES to aggravate Jackson and Jersey, but especially Jersey because she doesn’t want to have too much to do with him. Also, we don’t let him get on the couch or bed because he might end up being 100+ pounds- the Great Pyraneese in him- so we are starting early with this rule. Unfortunately, we have a platform bed, so Tucker has always been able to get into it. So, like today, if we aren’t watching he likes to sneak into the bedroom and take a nap. I caught him today with the camera!
Oh, how exciting married life can be! Andy and I have been wanting new bed linens for forever. We’ve looked and debated for over a year. Yes, debated. Andy tends to like all things striped and plaid. And, well, thats not really my taste. So it has taken forever to decide such things! On Friday night we went and found a cheap bed-in-a-bag at WalMart. It was pretty nice but I wasn’t sold on it. When we got it home and got it on the bed, we realized the sheets were so SO scratchy. We have been really spoiled by fantastic sheets that I got a year or so ago on clearance. So, these new sheets were especially scratchy. Anyways- so we slept one night on the new bed-in-a-bag and decided we didn’t like it. Today we went to Target and found some WONDERFUL sheets that are sooooo soft, and a new quilt/coverlet for our bed. Everything looks so good and its been the highlight of the month to get new bed linens! How wonderful the simplicity of married life is at times! 🙂 Here is a picture of the new stuff!
As I said in the previous post, we got to take the new boat out for the first time last Sunday afternoon. We had a good time and can’t wait to be able to go again! Kincaid Lake is so beautiful and only ten minutes down the road. Here are some pictures of our boating trip! My camera died so I didn’t get to take too many, but there will be many boating trips to come!
This has been an interesting week!
On Sunday, Andy and I took the boat out for the first time on Kincaid Lake. We haven’t perfected the whole thing yet and there were some definite ungraceful moments, but we figured it out. I ended up having to push the boat off in to the water and got my feet and lower legs soaked. It was pretty cool out and really windy so I stayed cold the whole time. Andy didn’t catch any fish, but we had a good time on the lake anyway.
Well on Monday morning I woke up SICK. I felt like someone was putting all their weight on my chest. I checked my temperature and it was 101 that morning. Throughout the day it kept getting worse, so I called and got into the doctor. By the time I got there my temp was up to almost 103. They ran all kinds of tests and determined that it wasn’t the flu or anything so thought it was mono. My temperature ended up getting to 104.2 on Monday and I was delirious from the fever. I have never felt like that ever before, it was awful. The mono test came back negative and I got some chest xrays and have a bad infection in my chest.
On Tuesday Andy started feeling bad and by that night he was running a high fever as well. He called in sick on Wednesday (for the first time ever) and went to the doctor. They said the same thing to him about it being an infection and gave him some meds and a shot. Wednesday night was really rough for us- Andy’s fever got to 103.8, and I was FREAKING OUT. Around midnight I almost took him to the emergency room but thankfully his fever went down.
Today both of our fevers are down to the 99’s, thank goodness! We’ve had a very rough week here! Both of us have been so pitiful. This is the first time we’ve been this sick, and sick together, since we’ve been married. We’re still not 100%, but its so much better. I have absolutely no voice at all so if you’ve tried calling me and I haven’t answered, that is why!
Hopefully tomorrow we’ll feel even better and be able to actually get out of the house this weekend, even if its just going to the movie or something! Andy’s going to go back to work so I’m hoping to be able to catch up on some cleaning.
After everything that could possibly go wrong with trying to create this website happened, we FINALLY have it up! We’re so glad that our family and friends from West to East Coasts will be able to easily see what is going on in our (sometimes boring!) lives. We’re still adding on pages and pictures (etc) so be patient with us! Any and all suggestions for the site are welcome. We love and miss you all!
Oh, and Happy Valentine’s Day!!!!
