fantastic day

Yesterday was one of those absolutely fantastic days.

Rory woke up so happy. This is not rare, but she was literally laughing when she woke up. She was giggling and “talking” and having a good ole time in her bed.

We snuggled together on the couch for probably an hour and a half and I enjoyed every single second of it. Soon, very soon, she’s not going to be wanting to snuggle anymore so I’m soaking it up while I can!

Then we went to the church because…. drumroll please…

You are looking at the new 2 year old lead teacher at the Mother’s Day Out!

Yay! I am employed!

I’ve been lesson planning and craft planning non-stop. I can’t wait to start!

After the meeting with the director, Rory and I went to WalMart to go grocery shopping. She was such a doll. She laughed, played, talked, blew bubbles and had a great time.

Andy got home and she was so excited. She squealed so loud when she saw him. Melts my heart.

We went over to Stephen and Julie’s house (friends from church) and Andy and the boys went to look at a hunting lease he’s getting in on. He’s so excited to start hunting again.Β Julie, Rory and I sat in Baby Grady’s room (due in Sept) while Julie organized the room some. Rory sat up playing for 30 to 45 minutes by herself. Big girl!

It was just a great day. Rory was so happy the entire day and we had so much fun together. This post is short and boring to most of you I am sure, but I just wanted to record it. Great days in the middle of the week that aren’t planned are just so wonderful. Its easy to wonder why all days can’t be great, but I know its because if all days were like yesterday I wouldn’t be able to treasure it so much or build my character at all. Testing times are to be praised too and we’ve had plenty of them this year!

So thank you God for the simple, wonderful day I had yesterday and thank you for the many trials we’ve been through in the past year. We know you planned every single one of them so that You could be glorified in our struggles! How awesome You are!

My in-laws are on their way to the house so I’ve got to do some last minute cleaning. Hope everyone has an amazing weekend!

now what’s my excuse going to be?

I love my husband dearly. I support his hobbies and let him enjoy them. But that doesn’t mean that I necessarily enjoy them too.

So since Rory has been born I’ve had the most amazing, and truthful, excuse to not go fishing. The baby, of course, cannot go. Therefore, I cannot go.

Until.

The call.

Andy calls and he is SO EXCITED. He has found something amazing! Something that I have PRAYED they didn’t have…

Can you see their excitement?! She is obviously saying, “yeah!!!”

She loved it. Sorry for cutting off your head, darling man…

So, we’re all going fishing since I told Andy we couldn’t go until stinker was big enough for a life jacket.

Now I am eating my words just like she’s eating her jacket.

I am also eating my words with the whole my-child-won’t-watch-tv thing.

And I am seriously consideriing a smaller tv. No wonder she loves it… its so huge how could you miss the dang thing?!

And don’t judge me for watching Hannah Montana all day long. Its a funny show, okay?!

And also don’t judge me for going to see Eclipse tonight at midnight. I’m desperate for girl time with friends!

Happy Father’s Day!

Dear Andy,

I couldn’t ask for a better father to my sweet Rory.

She already absolutely adores you and when you walk through the room she watches you and smiles.

You’ve stolen her heart, like you did mine, and I can’t wait to see all the fun you will have together.

My own dad was my biggest pal growing up and my biggest hero (and he still is!).

Seeing you with Rory reminds me of how wonderful my dad is and I am so proud she will have a father just as amazing.

I love you so much and so does Rory and we are both so thankful for you!

Rory loves being silly with her Daddy more than anything!

could she look anymore like her daddy?! πŸ™‚

This is a pic of Rory’s card she gave Andy. She wrote “Love You Daddy! Love, Rory”, can’t you tell???

Happy 6th Anniversary!

Its hard to believe that SIX years ago we were at the church getting married! What a wonderful/crazy day it was! I only wish I would have had time to enjoy it more.

Here we are on our anniversary trip last year in Dallas

Just two lovebirds with no responsibilities other than a job and keeping up a home.

Now we’re a family of three and oh how life has changed!

Last night we went to dinner with friends and I kept looking over at Andy and we would wink at eachother and smile. Sitting next to him makes my heart swell up with pride. All I could think was: HE is MY man! He’s winking at ME!

I want to be sitting next to him for the rest of my life winking and smiling. I’m so thankful for him and the man he has become. We have grown up together in a lot of ways because we were married so young. Thank you God for allowing us to grow together instead of apart. I love him more everyday. He is my soul mate, my partner in crime, my very best friend.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Show Us Your Life- Show Us Your Hometown

Paris, Texas

Welcome to our new hometown- Paris, TX. We’ve only been here 5 months but we absolutely have fallen in love with this town. Its big enough to not feel isolated, small enough to feel quaint and comfy. Its only an hour and a half away from Dallas, so I can get my big city fill in just a day trip. What’s not to love?!

Did you know that we are the world’s second largest Paris? Yep. Also, we have an Eiffel Tower… with a gynormous cowboy hat on top. Want to know why? Because Paris, TN decided to build an Eiffel Tower as well after we did, so of course Texas had to do it bigger and better and put a big ole red cowboy hat on the top! I’ve come to learn that everything IS bigger in Texas. πŸ™‚

Paris has a wonderful, well kept, and still thriving downtown. Rory and I go walking around the square at least once a week and we go in all the shops. I adore downtowns and am so glad we moved to a place with one that still is thriving since that is so rare these days.

We’re also home to Campbell’s Soup Tomato Soup plant. And did you know that Tomato Soup stinks?! ha! We don’t smell it in town or at our house, but when we drive by the plant its a little bit awful. ha!

There are also so many lakes and parks and trails around Paris. I can’t wait for Rory to be old enough to go out on the boat and fish with her Daddy!

I must admit, when we first learned there was a possibility to be transfered to Valliant, OK with IP, I about had a nervous breakdown. If you google map Valliant you will too. Valliant is in the middle of nowhere, literally. My first words to Andy were, “Andy, I don’t want a home birth,” and I had tears in my eyes and I was DEAD SERIOUS. (If you were moving three weeks before your due date you would have been that dramatic too.) But! Thankfully we met our now great friends Josh and Carly who live in Paris and told us it wasn’t a bad drive and that Josh and Andy could car pool to help with the 50 minute drive. THANK YOU LORD! No home births for me!

We really do adore our new town. God is continuing to be faithful and moving here was a great blessing. I’m so excited that Rory will (hopefully) start school here and grow up here. Its such a great town to raise a family. I guess being willing to move anywhere with your husband pays off after all! πŸ™‚

And honestly- anywhere with these two is the greatest place on earth.

Have a great weekend!

put it on my tab…

(in true LJW tradition- name that movie)

Last night was a bit traumatic in the Harris house. Andy was rearranging the office and Rory and I were sitting in the computer chair when all of a sudden the DVD shelving thing/case broke in half and tipped over on top of us. I’m still not exactly sure what happened, but I’m pretty sure it hit me first then rolled over onto Rory.

This is the first time she’s ever felt any real pain, so she screamed and cried like we’d never heard her do for about 30 to 45 minutes. I called the pediatrician on call and she said to go ahead and take her into the ER since she was so young and her head is still soft. We knew it hadn’t knocked her out but we definitely wanted to take her in to be safe.

So off we went to the hospital… Rory is obviously really concerned at this point. She just looks a little mad about it.

While at the hospital, Rory was as happy as can be. She smiled and talked and laughed at the nurses and doctor. She just kept batting those sweet eyes at the doctor who was an older man. So sweet.

Everything is fine. It sounds much worse than it ended up being but it was definitely scary since it was our first accident with the little girl. It could have been so much worse and we are just praising God for his protection over our little girl. I’m pretty sure where it hit me is hurting a whole lot worse than what she’s feeling this morning!!!

Showing off my soon-to-be shiner.

I stayed up all night pretty much checking on her every hour like the doctor said just in case and she slept through the whole night and even slept in this morning until 8:30! of course!

So yeah, go ahead hospital, just put in on my tab. ER visit #4 for the year since she’s been born, not to mention the bill for staying in the hospital five days to have her, and the gallbladder surgery. Just put it on my tab. πŸ™‚

Weekend Update

Did y’all watch Saturday Night Live? Amazing. Love Betty White.

We had a fantastic weekend in the Harris house! All of Andy’s projects for the annual outage were completed on Friday night so he was able to stay home all weekend. MIRACLE! Or actually my husband is just amazing at his job and planned well enough that he wouldn’t have last minute jobs!

Andy- thank you so much for all of your hard work and providing for our family. You are such an amazing husband and father and I am so proud of you!

Telling Dad something…

Rory loves just hanging out with her Daddy!

The three of us hung out all weekend. It was perfect! On Saturday we went to the Paris Art and Craft show, Hobby Lobby and on a great lunch date. It was so gorgeous outside and cool.

Rory wore her Happiness is Mommy tshirt for Mother’s Day weekend!

And here are some cute pics I took of just Rory this weekend in her Lady Bug overalls. She gets so hot and sweaty though so after a little bit she got fussy and we took the overalls off and she was very happy!

Now, honestly, if you aren’t smiling back and giggling at this picture something is wrong with you.

Did I mention she no longer wants to wear socks and kicks them off constantly!?!

Have a great Monday!

(not-so) Wordless Wednesday: 7 Years Ago ;)

Okay, sorry, I just can’t do this “Wordless Wednesday” without words!

Seven years ago this week (someone had to remind me, I’m not that good, ha!) my senior class went to Maui and the trip ended up changing my life forever. For those of you who don’t know, Andy and I started talking (literally… we’d never talked before hardly, haha!) and dating on this trip. So here are some pictures of the beginning of our life together. Funny how we had NO IDEA it would be a “forever” type of thing πŸ˜‰

This picture is our first night in Maui, and the first time Andy and I ever sat next to eachother (we’re on the right). HA HA! Look how nervous we were. So cute.

Our first couple-y picture- on the beautiful beach. (He asked me to prom on this same beach!)

Snorkeling and getting a little more comfortable with eachother. This picture is pretty cute/hilarious to me!

We went on a dinner cruise one night… it was so fun and Andy was so cute to want to be with me even if it meant being with these OTHER crazies. HAHA!

(and wait are we HOLDING HANDS UNDER THE TABLE???!!!! hehe)

Definitely a couple now… look how happy we look! (and yes I’m wearing a dress…)

Sometimes it feels good to just be all out sappy doesn’t it?! I just can’t believe it was seven years ago. I’m dying to go back to Maui to relive it all there again. Maybe 10 year anniversary??!!
