Halloween 2016

We have had the most eventful Halloween week in the history of all our Halloweens. Last week was such a whirlwind that I still feel hungover from all the sugar and events.

On Thursday Rory had her first ever field trip! Now. Let me just say, they could seriously load those kiddos up and drive the bus around for about 30 minutes and they would have been so dang happy. Rory was BESIDE HERSELF with excitement because of getting to ride the bus.

We headed to the pumpkin patch and Rory had an absolute blast! I love getting to see her interact with her school friends and teachers. She is such a mess.

I’ll tell you what– I never pictured myself being the mom that loved to go on field trips and volunteer at the girls’ schools, but it turns out I really, really love it.

Last week was especially fun because I got TWO girls’ nights and I mean… come on. It doesn’t get better than that!

I can’t even tell you how thankful I am to have girlfriends in Cleveland now. It is so nice to get out of the house and nothing is better than two nights in a row!

On Saturday we slept in for the first time in I don’t know how long and we were able to get the house clean and ready for our Halloween Party! Our church normally does a big festival but this year they decided not to do it this year so we invited our Sunday School class over for a party. Our neighborhood is a huge trick or treating place so we took our kids out and then came back to eat. The kids had THE best time. In fact, Ryder won’t stop talking about how it was the best day she has ever had. Most everyone, even the adults, dressed up and it was just so much fun. I can’t wait until next year!

The girls really wanted me to go as Ursula at first but I had to draw the line and say no. We had a lot of suggestions but finally they settled on their current favorite movie- 101 Dalmatians. So Andy was Roger, I was Cruella and the girls were puppies. It was a lot of fun getting dressed up with them.

Sunday afternoon I took the girls’ picture in front of a school here in town that is always gorgeous in the fall. Then yesterday the same picture from a year ago showed up on my facebook “on this day” and BASICALLY I HAD A SOB FEST, OKAY?!

IMG_865811666256_10101947251833776_685833017560260922_nI mean listen…. it was just yesterday that all my pictures looked like this-

IMG_8659And now suddenly my kids are almost 6 and 4 1/2. HOW DID THAT EVEN HAPPEN?!

Side note:
That moment a kid toots and you ask who did it… should’ve known….IMG_8601

So basically I have had the hugest baby fever in all of the land for the past few days. And then God comes down just when I think I can have another one and whispers to Rory at 3am, “Wake up, my child, and remind your parents why they never had a third baby.”

Baby fever has left until the next time facebook breaks my heart with a picture of tiny babies. And then it’ll be over again when Rory wakes up yet again in the middle of the night and I realize OH HECK NO.

Happy Tuesday, my friends!

the worst kind of diy (alternate title: this is all dave ramsey’s fault)

As some of you might have noticed (meaning, my mother), I took an unexpected break from blogging this week.

I kind of snapped and haven’t been in the frame of mind to blog.

Which means I should’ve known I also wasn’t in the frame of mind to do a DIY dye job on my hair.

So instead of cleaning, blogging, resting, etc etc etc in the mornings while the girls were at school as I normally do, I was busy dying my hair like a mad woman.

Let us start from the beginning.

I have been dying my own hair red to touch it up for 6+ months. It has gone wonderfully and there have been no mess ups.

The last time I got my hair done by a pro I HATED the color red she did and wore a hat until I could tone it down.

Oh, I kid, I kid. But it was a whopping $150 for a trim and bad dye job. OH AND SHE DIDN’T EVEN DRY MY HAIR AT THE END. Let’s just say it wasn’t the best experience.

Andy almost died from a heart attack when I told him how much it was. And it was uber shameful to have to tell him I hated the color. (He hated it too.)

That is when I started doing my own hair.

Well Andy was “over” the red and it was so hard to maintain the roots. So I decided to DIY a new color.

So I chose a brown color and dyed it and EW it was mousy and dull and terrible.

So I headed back to the drug store and saw an ombre kit and thought, “YES! This is what I need! I will just lighten the bottom of my hair and it’ll give it dimension and be cute!”

Bless my heart.

(This is where I warn you that there are a lot of horrifying pictures coming of my hair and my no makeup face. You have been warned.)

So I did the ombre and came up with this which actually wasn’t so bad.

Except Andy saw me and had “Chloe face” and was clearly not thrilled with it. So I decided to just lighten the very bottom a little more and it would all work out.

I immediately started texting Telena to get her to help a sister out seeing as she’s a professional hair person. She calmed me down a bit.

I replied with this pic:

(I don’t believe Telena ever told me to lighten it more- I think I was on the crazy drugs and made this up.)

So. As you can see, I was having THE ISSUES.

I hung my head in shame with a baseball cap on and entered Walmart to buy some color with the help of Telena on the phone.

You know you’ve hit a hair dye low when you are shopping hair dye with this one:

IMG_3177Bet you $100 her husband put her on a budget too.

Well. I WOULD bet $100 except its not in the budget to do so.

I consulted Telena when purchasing the new color. Here goes nothing…..

End result.

So here is my Personal Service Announcement:

At least my momma loves me no matter what I look like…. RIGHT MOM?!

I never got around to filming my January Faves since I was having camera issues so I thought today I would post five makeup favorites from January.

I love this post about all the uses of coconut oil. I personally use it the most for a moisturizer, makeup remover, and to shave my legs.

5- Clarisonic Mia2

Screen Shot 2015-02-06 at 9.22.59 AM

This is a bit of an update for you- I am in love with this! I’ve been using it ever day and have noticed a great difference in my skin texture. If I skip a day I can tell which is the sign of a good product. I use it with the philosophy purity cleanser and I think it is worth the investment for sure!

Okay, so those are my Five Friday Faves in the makeup department for January. Next month I will film it!

Well I finally got a new camera and have been loving it. Yesterday I decided to film my “Five Minute Face” tutorial since I needed to put makeup on anyway. The problem with filming and talking during the filming is that it doesn’t take five minutes.

I did time this several times and got between 5-7 minutes every time when I just did my makeup without having to stop. So I promise it is a quick face! ha! This isn’t my favorite video but some people who have no makeup experience will get something out of it!

The most important thing to look out for is the times I break out into random song. I just can’t help it. I am so my mother.

What I Used:

Dr Brandt Pores No More Primer
BareNaked by BareMinerals Foundation in 007 Bare Natural
Loreal True Match Concealer in Neutral
Maybelline Color Tattoo : colors Barely Branded and Bad to the Bronze
Naked 2 Pallette : shadow colors Tease (eyebrows) and Blackout (liner)
Hoola Bronzer by Benefit
Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Classic
CoverGirl LashBlast mascara in Very Black
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey

(Not mentioned because I forgot- I used a CoverGirl pressed powder to set my under eyes and T-zone. CAN’T BELIEVE I FORGOT TO SAY THAT!)

Hope you enjoyed the video! Let me know you’re favorite easy face products!

chopped! : before & after

I was feeling like a needed a big change but didn’t know what I wanted. As I’m approaching 30 (I know, I’m tired of hearing about it too), I have just been feeling the need to change some things.

I’ve been having major hair envy over lots of celebs lately and their fresh new cuts. I hate I’m technically late to this ball game since I don’t want to be an “after trend” BUT I wanted to make sure I was 100% sure I wanted to chop the hair off.

I haven’t gotten a really good cut in over 2 -3 years. I’ve gotten trims etc, but not a good cut all that dead crap off type cut. My hair was starting to look pitiful and it was just time.

I’ve been posting long bobs, or lobs, to my Pinterest board for hair for months. Finally after many months of debate with myself, I decided to take the plunge. Here were my favorite “hairspirations”.

Lauren Conrad is always, always on top of my beauty inspiration board. (source)

I think my favorite has been Kelly Ripa’s hair. It looks so fresh and so cute straight or wavy. I’ve been drooling over her hair every morning for months. (source)

So here are my before pics (warning: these are not the best pics I’ve ever taken ha!):

FullSizeRender 3 IMG_0667

I ended up getting 10+ inches cut off! I couldn’t believe it. I’m going to be donating it after I do some research on where to send it (meaning a place that will actually use my hair and not sell it).

FullSizeRender 2

I am absolutely in love with it. I think she did such an amazing job listening to me and actually doing what I wanted. I also loved her because she took her precious time shampooing me and fixing it afterwards. I felt totally pampered and not rushed which is AMAZING. She also gave me the cut for free since it was my first time with her. I tipped her well and was just so glad I found her. Holla, Bethany! You did good!

I picked the girls up from school but had a coat and scarf on so they didn’t notice my hair. When we got home and took all my outwear off Ryder stopped and said “whoa! your hair!” She said she loved it too which is kind of a shocker because Ryder is weird about such things.

Rory was beside herself saying how much she loved it and how CAH-UTE it was which cracked me up.

Then she said that Andy was going to say, “come on over here little lady and give me some sugah.” HA HA HA HA HA. Where on earth does she even get this stuff from?!

And I would like to report that this is what happened when I sent Andrew the picture:

I cracked up. Andy has never, ever, ever, EVER used exclamation points. EVER. Like ever.

So I got completely tickled over that text because it is so beyond out of character for him. I think he knew he needed to have a strong reaction. I mean most of the time he doesn’t even notice things like this. haha!

I’m so happy with the entire experience today and especially pleased with how my hair turned out. I think it was just the “rebellious” change I needed.
